ESG Trainings

In 2020, Chunghwa Telecom organized the first supplier ESG trainings, inviting ESG experts and industry representatives to conduct trainings to support the improvement of suppliers’ sustainability competencies in depth.

In 2022, owing to the COVID-19 impact, online training was adopted instead. A total of 50 significant supplier representatives attended the training. In addition to the internal ESG lecturers, external professional ESG consultants were invited to give ESG lectures totaled 4 hours. Aside from knowledge in the latest international sustainability trends and the ESG dynamics in the industry, substantial supports were provided to the numerous suppliers on ESG actions through interactive exchanges.

Sustainable Environmental Education

In 2016, Chunghwa Telecom launched the first “sustainable environmental education” for suppliers. Each year, supplier partners will be taken to environmental education facilities for the education and trainings of “sustainable environmental education.” In addition, “Supplier Partner ESG Education and Training” is organized at the CHT Headquarters on a yearly basis.

In 2022, Mr. Wei-Kuo Hong, the Executive Vice President of Chunghwa Telecom, took the supplier partners to the Disaster Resilient Community at Meizhou Village in Yilan (recognized as a resilient community by the US State Department). A series of environmental education across fields and generations on climate change, ecological conservation, and cultural preservation were designed to introduce how the disaster resilient community coexisted with the century-old canal, which was applied to the trilogy of production, life, and ecology for regional revitalization and sustainable development, to Chunghwa Telecom’s supplier partners. Hence, the cultural competence of the people in the tech sector was deepened. Together with our sustainability supplier partners, we shall march towards the goal of net-zero sustainability.
