Chunghwa Telecom has always attached great importance to intellectual property. In order to properly protect, manage, and utilize intellectual property resources and reduce the risk of intellectual property infringement, Chunghwa Telecom has formulated an intellectual property policy that is integrated with its business objectives to stay ahead of the industry and has established a systematic intellectual property management system. In order to strengthen the mindset of intellectual property management within the organization, we organize education and training courses related to intellectual property from time to time to implement the company's intellectual property management system and ensure the company's sustainable operation.

Patent management
- The layout and development of patents are mainly based on research institutes, which are in line with the company's development strategy, with technology research and development as the first step, and the layout and development of key businesses to increase our revenue and profit.In order to enhance the value and quality of patent applications, Chunghwa Telecom has established a comprehensive patent examination process and a patent incentive program, and also has built a patent management system for use by the entire company.
- Strengthening the concept of intellectual property protection, protecting the company's R&D achievements and enhancing the effectiveness of patent management by intellectual property education and promotion and strengthen the training of patent talents to protect the company's R&D achievements and effectively enhance the effectiveness of patent management.
Management of Trade secret
Chunghwa Telecom has established relevant regulations to protect the company's internal tradesecrets and has set up a dedicated unit to supervise the implementation of the trade secret protection measures in order to protect the company's intellectual property assets. And the regulations for different targets are described below:

Newly hired employees
Have to sign a contract for the protection of trade secrets to remind employees of their obligation to keep trade secrets during and after employment. In addition, newly hired employees have to fill out a survey form of existing intellectual property so that the company can grasp the existing intellectual property and confidentiality obligations of newly hired employees to avoid the company infringing on other people's intellectual property.

Departing employees
The supervisor shall remind employees of their obligations to maintain confidentiality and ask them return intellectual property to the company before they leave the company.

All employees
Are educated on practical cases and trained on the protection of trade secrets every year, and remind them of the importance of the protection of trade secrets.

Business partners (including outsourced personnel)
If the content of the cooperation contract with Chunghwa Telecom involves trade secrets, the vendors and their related project staffs all have to sign confidentiality agreements and related documents to protect the Company's rights and interests.
Implementation status
Chunghwa Telecom regularly present intellectual property reports to the Board of Directors in the fourth quarter of every year. Intellectual property results are as follows:

Chunghwa Telecom passed the 2024 Taiwan Intellectual Property Management System (TIPS) Level A certification(re- Certification), which is valid until December 31, 2026.
