ESG Trainings & Sustainable Environmental Education
ESG Trainings
Starting from 2020, Chunghwa Telecom has been actively promoting ESG education and trainings for suppliers, inviting numerous ESG experts and industry representatives to provide in-depth analysis of sustainable development concepts so as to enhance the sustainability capabilities of its suppliers.
In 2024, we held the "Supplier Sustainability Capability Assessment & Supply Chain Carbon Management and Training." with 100 representatives from key suppliers in attendance. The event featured internal and external experts, including professional ESG lecturers, as well as professional auditors and consultants. The 4-hour ESG course not only informed the participants on the latest international sustainability trends and industry dynamics but also facilitated substantial support for ESG actions via interactions and exchanges, promoted sustainable development of the supply chain, and offered concrete support to the vast army of suppliers in their ESG endeavors.

Sustainable Environmental Education
In 2016, Chunghwa Telecom launched the first "sustainable environmental education" for suppliers. Each year, supplier partners will be taken to environmental education facilities for the education and trainings of "sustainable environmental education." The education not merely solidifies the environmental consensus throughout the supply chain but also boosts the momentum of overall sustainable development. "Supplier Partner ESG Education and Training" organized each year further deepens the sustainability/ESG understanding and concrete practices of the supplier partners.
In 2024, Vice President Di-Yao Jhan at the Supply Department, Chunghwa Telecom, led supplier partners to the Yilan Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, for discussions and exchanges on wetland ecosystems, biodiversity, and ecosystem services, covering topics such as marshes, ponds, lakes, rivers, and coastal wetlands. Meanwhile, the habitat functions for fish, amphibians, birds, insects, and plants were elaborated.
In the afternoon of the day, all participants visited the Luodong Nature Center to learn about the management model of the Taipingshan Forest Farm. Through the hands-on activity of making wooden spoons from raw timber, they experienced the sustainable use of forest products, putting the philosophy of “No Deforestation” into action. Such action not only deepened the supplier partners’ understanding of the UN SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) but also fostered a shared consensus on the implementation of SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), embodying concrete actions in promoting net-zero transition and a sustainable supply chain of businesses.

Key Supplier Decarbonization Pathway Workshop
To strengthen supply chain climate resilience and decarbonization capabilities, we organized the “Key Supplier Decarbonization Pathway Workshop.” Environmental sustainability experts with hands-on experience in SBTi decarbonization targets were invited to share decarbonization strategies, carbon inventory practices, and RE100 target setting and implementation processes. In addition to covering the methodology for science-based reduction pathway planning, the course content also included analysis of corporate case studies and hands-on exercises, helping our supplier partners identify emissions hotspots, carry out voluntary inventory and pathway planning, and enhance their climate risk identification and action capabilities, so as to jointly promote our supply chain’s achievement of net-zero goals.
