The well-being and development of employees are emphasized at Chunghwa Telecom. We provide comprehensive employee support programs to ensure that employees receive complete support and development in terms of personal welfare and professionalism.

Stress Management
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has been promoted since 2007 at the Company, making Chunghwa Telecom one of the first large enterprises in Taiwan with EAP introduced. The service content and execution results are as follows:
    - 5 external professional consultation sessions per employee per year, free of charge, to help solve employee’s troubles such as stress, legal, medicine, family and parenting, and workplace relations
    - 450 service sessions provided per year; 3 on-site visits by case managers
Sport & health program
  • 164 health lectures with 12,839 participants
  • 34 educational trips with 2,140 participants
  • 10 health examinations with 886 participants
  • 237 sessions of large-scale and club activities with 18,165 participants
  • A minimum of 2 health-related articles published monthly to promote correct disease prevention concepts and further the health awareness of employees
Sport & health facilities
  • A variety of sports and leisure facilities (basketball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, exercise bikes, treadmills, etc.) available for employees to engage in healthy and leisure activities

Flexible Working Hours
  • Chunghwa Telecom offers employees the flexible working hour mechanism. Different from the conventional fixed working hours, on the basis of same total working hours per day, employees may choose to come to office in 8:00-9:00 and flexibly adjust their working schedule (move up or postpone) catered to their needs, provided that employees finish the jobs allocated.
  • Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories stipulated the Directions for Flexible Working Hours Implementation of Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories in 2021 for employees to adopt the flexible working hours as 07:30-9:30 for clock-in and 16:30-18:30 for clock-off, which is to be expanded and applied to all institutions in 2022.
  • “Regulations Governing the Implementation of Flexible Working Hours for the Units at the Headquarters of Chunghwa Telecom” and “Regulations Governing the Implementation of Flexible Working Hours of the Information Technology Group of Chunghwa Telecom” were promulgated in 2022 to offer flexible working hours at work for employees to adopt the flexible working hours as 07:30-09:30 for clock-in and 16:00-18:00 for clock-off, which has been extended and applied to the Information Technology Group and all the units at the Headquarters of the Company.
  • A diversified flexible system shall be designed and extended to other business groups in line with the business nature of the respective business groups in 2023.
WFH Arrangement
  • CHT has established the system of Working from Home (WFH), created a mobile operating environment and offered digital tools to help our employees to work remotely.
  • Any employee that fits for WFH can submit application in line with their business needs before accessing the CHTNet corporate network for working remotely.
  • The internal corporate network created at CHT is protected by an advanced cybersecurity mechanism that allows secured access of internal resources. In addition to WFH employees, employees of mobile operation and corporate managers on business trip may access the corporate internal network for document viewing and approval, emergency handling, among others.
Part-time Working Options
  • To support employees in their career planning and family life, CHT is planning for the “Part-time Employee System.” With the system, employees will be able to apply for a transfer into “regular part-time employees” in the future in line with their needs for the balance between work with study or family care, cutting down their monthly regular working hours.

Childcare Facilities/Supplies
  • Contracted quality local childcare facilities offer employees discounts on the childcare service fees.
  • The public early childhood education and care service has been promoted in 2020 with 16 childcare facilities installed, which was projected to open for service in August 2022.
Nursery Facilities
  • “Breastfeeding rooms” are installed at the workplace to meet employees’ need in breastfeeding.
Childcare Contributions
  • To build a safe pregnancy-friendly workplace, a welfare system that is better than the statutory requirements is in place, offering 10 days for pregnancy checkup leave, as well as pregnancy checkup accompaniment and paternity leaves.
  • Any employee with child aged 3 or under may apply for 1-hour working hour reduction per day with pay and without impact to other rights.
  • The parental leave allowance is better than the Labor Law requirement in Taiwan
  • For an employee applying for 2-year parental leave, subsidy of 50% of average monthly insured salary amount is available from 7th to 24th month with a maximum of 18 months subsidized and a total amount of over NT$410,000.
  • Employee in service with child at 0-6 year(s) old is provided with a NT$12,000 childcare allowance per capita per year.
  • Children of employees are supported with 4 to 12 times of education expense subsidies, totally up to NT$35,800.
Paid parental leave for the primary caregiver
  • Paid parental leave for the primary caregiver is available. The weeks paid: 104
  • In the duration of parental leave, employee is entitled to the 6-month parental allowance disbursed by the competent authority in line with the Employment Insurance Act. Afterward, upon the expiry of the months of parental allowance from the government, the Company offers an extra parental allowance 50% of insured salary amount of the claimant participating in the Labor Insurance, which is disbursed on a monthly basis for a maximum of 2 years in total with the allowance from the government combined.

  • Paid parental leave for the non-primary caregiver is available. The weeks paid: 1.4
Family Care Leave
  • Better than the statutory requirement, a 7-day paid family care leave is available (holidays excluded).
