On October 26th, the Company celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Japanese subsidiary, known as " Chunghwa Telecom Japan Co. Ltd," in Tokyo, bringing together over hundreds of distinguished guests, including representatives from Japanese telecommunications companies, and local Taiwanese businesses. Notable guests including Shyie-yow Chou, Deputy Ambassador of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan, Vice President Dr. Katsuhiko Kawazoe, from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), and Managing Executive Officer Hiroyuki Soshi from KDDI Corporation, and, Senior Director of Global Business Division Hiroya Kudo from Softbank, along with former Chairman of Chunghwa Telecom Mr. Hochen Tan, who also attended the event, marking this important milestone. The event also featured the annual Chunghwa Telecom International Group Excellence Awards to recognize outstanding staffs' contributions over the past year.
Chunghwa Telecom Japan Co. Ltd reached its 15-year milestone in October this year, benefitting from its parent company, Chunghwa Telecom’s expertise and integration capabilities. It has become the primary support for Taiwanese businesses in Japan. In February 2023, Chunghwa Telecom Japan secured a specific construction permit for electrical communication works, expanding its scope to serve larger industries and securing substantial orders. This achievement represents a pivotal milestone in the success of Chunghwa Telecom's overseas expansion in the field of information and communication services.
As to the field of submarine cable development, Chunghwa Telecom has expanded its involvement significantly over the past 15 years, participating in nearly 30 global submarine cables, including successful landings in Japan. The bandwidth, which was just over 20 Gbps fifteen years ago, has now exceeded 10 Tbps, significantly enhancing the international Internet networks connecting Taiwan, Japan, and the United States. Looking ahead, Chunghwa Telecom is committed to further expanding its investments to support business growth.
