Recognized for the third consecutive year, the company rose to 39th globally – the highest-ranked telecom company in Taiwan, on par with other world-class enterprises. This achievement highlights global recognition of Chunghwa Telecom's robust sustainability performance.

TIME Magazine and Statista jointly evaluated companies for the “World’s Most Sustainable Companies” ranking across three dimensions: Commitments and Ratings, Reporting and Transparency, and Environmental and Social Stewardship, using more than 20 key indicators. Chunghwa Telecom's outstanding performance across these key indicators reflects the company’s longstanding commitment to sustainable development. Mr. Chih-Cheng Chien, Chairman and CEO of Chunghwa Telecom, noted that the company was honored to once again receive strong international recognition for its robust sustainability governance framework, continued sustainability initiatives, and innovative applications of AI and ICT practices. In response to global challenges, including climate change, the rapid advancement of AI, and a changing geopolitical landscape, the company continues to pursue its three strategic pillars: Digital Resilience, Intelligent Enablement, and Sustainable Future. By embedding sustainability into its daily operations and leveraging the power of technological innovation, the company aims to build a more resilient, intelligent, and sustainable future.

Integrity Governance and Transparent Disclosure: Chunghwa Telecom Earns Trust Through Strong Sustainability Performance

Chunghwa Telecom has long upheld the principles of integrity and transparency, integrating sustainability into its corporate strategy and operations while continuously evaluating its performance against international standards. The company received the highest MSCI ESG Rating of AAA for two consecutive years and the highest CDP Climate Change rating of A-List for three consecutive years, demonstrating its strong performance in sustainability governance and climate action. Furthermore, Chunghwa Telecom was among the first companies in Taiwan to align with the IFRS S1 and S2 sustainability disclosure standards this year, one year ahead of schedule, and published a dedicated section on sustainability-related financial information. This initiative enhances transparency across the Group regarding sustainability-related financial information, as well as sustainability- and climate-related risks and opportunities. Through these concrete actions, Chunghwa Telecom has earned the trust of investors, customers, and the public, further reinforcing the foundation for sustainable development.

AI-Powered Energy Efficiency and Smart Conservation: Technological Innovation for a Sustainable Environment

In terms of environmental sustainability, Chunghwa Telecom proactively addresses the rapidly growing energy demands of the AI era. Concrete actions include introducing advanced AI-powered energy-saving technologies and integrating them with self-developed smart management solutions. By analyzing mobile network loads in real time, intelligently adjusting base station operations, and enabling dynamic off-peak hibernation, the company saved millions of kilowatt-hours of electricity last year (2025) while maintaining the quality of its network services. These efforts demonstrate Chunghwa Telecom’s commitment to improving energy efficiency and reducing its environmental impact through technology as demand for telecommunications services continues to grow.

Chunghwa Telecom is also applying technological innovation to ecological conservation.  By integrating AI-powered image and audio recognition with AIoT environmental monitoring, the company has developed Taiwan's first "Avian Water Ark" smart conservation model. The model enables real-time monitoring of habitat conditions and potential threats, helping to protect birdlife and wetland ecosystems. In this way, AI is evolving from a tool that enhances operational efficiency into an important force for safeguarding natural ecosystems.

Social Inclusion: Integrating AI into Communications to Build the First Line of Anti-Fraud Defense

As part of its commitment to social sustainability, Chunghwa Telecom integrates AI into its communications services to build a comprehensive anti-fraud safety net, effectively blocking hundreds of millions of scam messages and threats and safeguarding the public's digital lives. In addition to continuously enhancing its AI-powered SMS anti-fraud technologies, the company applies AI to identify abnormal content and suspicious characteristics in messages transmitted both domestically and internationally, covering commercial SMS and personal multimedia messages, in order to block fraudulent messages. The company has also introduced a range of cybersecurity and online safety services, including “Anti-Hacking Gatekeeper,” “HiNet Porn Gatekeeper,” and “LINE Bot AI Anti-Fraud Captain.” These services collectively block an average of 10.77 billion cybersecurity and fraud threats annually. Chunghwa Telecom also offers digital anti-fraud awareness courses and AI interactive experiences to help senior citizens and underserved communities enhance their online safety awareness, digital skills, and fraud awareness and prevention capabilities. Through these initiatives, the company demonstrates how innovative technologies can serve as a powerful force in safeguarding digital security for the public.

Mr. Chien emphasized that sustainable development has become an essential foundation of corporate competitiveness and a key to creating long-term value. Being recognized by TIME as one of the world’s top 1% most sustainable companies not only affirm Chunghwa Telecom’s longstanding ESG efforts but also highlights the strong international competitiveness of the company in the field of sustainability. Looking ahead, the company will continue to drive sustainable resilience through technological innovation, further advancing its efforts in net-zero emissions, ecological conservation, and social inclusion.
