Chunghwa Telecom Becomes First in Taiwan to Fully Adopt IFRS S1 and S2 Standards One Year Ahead of Schedule, Releasing 2025 Sustainability-Related Financial Information Section Setting a New Benchmark

TAIPEI, Taiwan, March 2, 2026 – Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (“Chunghwa Telecom” or “the Company”) announced the completion of its 2025 Sustainability-Related Financial Information Section ("Sustainability Information Section"), which has been approved by the Board of Directors and officially released on February 26, 2026. The Company is among the first large-scale enterprises in Taiwan to fully adopt the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and S2), highlighting Chunghwa Telecom’s leading position in sustainable governance, information transparency, and alignment with international standards.

Mr. Chih‑Cheng Chien, Chairman and CEO of Chunghwa Telecom, stated, “In pursuit of corporate governance excellence, in response to stakeholders’ expectations for high-quality sustainability disclosures, and in fulfillment of our commitment to comprehensive sustainability-related financial disclosure with higher standard, we have adopted the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards one year ahead of the regulatory timeline. We have successfully completed and disclosed the Sustainability Information Section. This milestone not only highlights the Company’s strong commitment to sustainable governance, but also signifies Chunghwa Telecom’s role in lead industry standards with concrete actions.”

To accelerate corporate sustainability transformation and net-zero commitments, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) issued the "Roadmap for Taiwan Listed Companies to Align with IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards" on August 17, 2023. The roadmap aims to enhance the consistency and comparability of sustainability disclosures and strengthen capital market confidence in disclosure quality. In response to policy directions, Chunghwa Telecom was among the first to establish a cross-functional task force overseen by the President and Chief Sustainability Officer, with the Chief Financial Officer serving as convener and the Chief Technology Officer as co-convener, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, data governance, and risk management framework. The task force has completed a head of schedule an assessment of its material sustainability- and climate-related risks and opportunities, as well as their financial impacts. It has also incorporated industry-based metrics covering Telecommunications Services, Multiline and Specialty Retailers & Distributors, Software and IT Services, and Semiconductors Standards, ensuring full alignment of disclosed content with international standards.

The Sustainability Information Section outlines the Company’s governance framework, strategic priorities, and mechanisms for identifying risks and opportunities, reflecting a balanced approach to sustainable resilience and financial stability. It presents six key sustainability- and climate-related risks and opportunities, focusing on digital resilience, net-zero emissions, climate resilience, cybersecurity and customer privacy. The section offers a detailed analysis of financial impacts on those key risks and opportunities, presenting a comprehensive view of how sustainability issues affect the Company’s operations, capital allocation, and long-term value, while fully aligning with IFRS, ISSB, TCFD, GRI, and the latest regulations issued by the FSC. This ensures transparency, completeness, and international comparability of all information.

Upholding its brand spirit of "Always Ahead" and guided by its three strategic pillars—"Digital Resilience, Smart Empowerment, Sustainable Future"—Chunghwa Telecom continues to strengthen its competitiveness and governance resilience. The early adoption of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards provides a more precise foundation for decision-making across key areas, including decarbonization strategies, investment decisions, capital expenditures, and supply chain management. Simultaneously, it enables stakeholders to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the Company’s overall approach to sustainable development and business strategy. Looking ahead, Chunghwa Telecom will continue to advance initiatives such as tech-driven decarbonization, smart energy conservation, and renewable energy deployment. By leveraging its core ICT capabilities, Chunghwa Telecom aims to establish a sustainable governance framework in line with international standards. The Company is also progressing steadily toward net-zero emissions and sustainability transformation. Chunghwa Telecom remains committed to harnessing technology and innovation to create a resilient and trustworthy sustainable future, delivering long-term and sustainable value to customers, strategic partners, shareholders, and employees.
