On February 18th, S&P Global released its Sustainability Yearbook 2026. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (“Chunghwa” or “the Company”) was selected for the fourth consecutive year, with its ESG score ranking among the top 5% of the global telecommunications sector. This recognition demonstrates Chunghwa’s outstanding ESG achievements and solidifies its position as a leading global sustainable enterprise.
The S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook lists select companies based on their Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) scores, the same methodology applied to the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJBICI). To be included, companies must achieve a qualifying CSA score and rank within the top 15% globally in their respective industry category. In 2025, more than 9,200 companies were evaluated for the 2026 Sustainability Yearbook consideration, with only about 848 selected, highlighting its rigorous standards.
Chunghwa Telecom highlighted its dedication by leveraging AI technologies to accelerate its sustainability transformation, while prioritizing timely and transparent disclosure to empower stakeholders with a clear and comprehensive view of its strategic roadmap across sustainability, business operations, and financial strength. Chunghwa Telecom has been named to the S&P Global 2026 Sustainability Yearbook for the fourth consecutive year, with its ESG performance ranking in the top 5% of telecommunications companies worldwide. As the Company’s sustainability strategy continues to be deeply integrated into operations and deliver measurable outcomes, this recognition highlights its strong execution and long-term sustainable competitiveness. Among global large-cap telecom operators with market capitalizations above US$2.5 billion, Chunghwa Telecom achieved the highest score, setting a global benchmark for sustainability leadership in the industry.
Accelerating the Company’s 2045 Net-Zero goal, Chunghwa Telecom secured a 20-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) for more than 4.6 billion kWh of renewable energy in 2025. Simultaneously, Chunghwa leverages AIoT technology to support biodiversity conservation, expanding restoration sites for Taiwan’s endangered native species, while steadily advancing reforestation and bamboo forest cultivation. Notably, the Company led the domestic industry in 2025 by issuing the first-ever sustainability bond incorporating biodiversity themes. Furthermore, the Company has also proactively aligned with IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, publishing a dedicated sustainability information section ahead of regulatory requirements. These efforts set a new benchmark for ESG disclosure in Taiwan, anchoring the foundation for low-carbon transition and ensuring unparalleled information transparency. These achievements, recently reaffirmed by the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook, underscore Chunghwa Telecom's role as an international sustainability leader that seamlessly blends governance with impactful action.
