Chunghwa Telecom Expands ASEAN Footprint with Establishment of Malaysia Subsidiary

To enhance ICT services for Taiwanese businesses and local enterprises in Malaysia, Chunghwa Telecom(CHT) established Chunghwa Telecom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. on December 1, 2025 through its Singapore subsidiary, which has long-standing operational experience and regulatory advantages in ASEAN. The inauguration ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur, attended by Bill Chiang, Vice President of CHT International Business Group and Chairman of Chunghwa Telecom Singapore, along with Roger Liu, General Manager of Chunghwa Telecom Singapore. They welcomed representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, the Taiwan Trade Center Kuala Lumpur and the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities in Malaysia to witness this milestone in CHT’s expansion in the ASEAN market.

In recent years, Malaysia has emerged as a key destination for Taiwanese investors, supported by its favorable business environment, multilingual talent pool, mature manufacturing supply chain, and strategic role as a regional hub. Government initiatives such as the National Semiconductor Strategy and the NIMP 2030 industrial blueprint have further accelerated growth in technology manufacturing, semiconductors, and electronics assembly across Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Johor Bahru, drawing an increasing number of Taiwanese enterprises to establish factories and expand their presence. To better support these businesses, CHT established a representative office in Malaysia three years ago, and with AI-driven industrial upgrades accelerating in 2025 and Taiwanese investment momentum continuing to rise, Chunghwa Telecom Singapore has elevated its Malaysia representative office into a fully licensed operating subsidiary to strengthen CHT’s local presence and provide faster, more comprehensive integrated ICT solutions for Taiwanese and multinational companies operating in Malaysia.

Dr. Chih-Cheng Chien, Chairman and CEO of CHT, remarked: “Chunghwa Telecom has been cultivating the ASEAN market for over 15 years, guided by the belief that wherever Taiwanese businesses go, Chunghwa Telecom will be there. With a global presence across Asia, the Americas and Europe, our new Kuala Lumpur subsidiary represents a significant enhancement of our Southeast Asia service capabilities and reinforces our long-term commitment to the region. We will continue to integrate Group resources, local expertise and strategic partners to support customers’ development in Malaysia and be their most trusted ICT partner.”
