Chunghwa Telecom is expanding its global reach and announced today (July 29) its official entry into the Bridge Alliance API Exchange (BAEx) Partner Programme, actively engaging in the development of cross-border open APIs. Having already developed and implemented a financial fraud prevention API in Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom will further collaborate with BAEx stakeholders comprising Mobile Network Operators, enterprises, solution providers and channel partners to explore potential business opportunities and build on the growing global open API ecosystem. This initiative not only enhances Chunghwa Telecom’s influence in the global market but also supports the deployment of next-generation B5G and 6G services and promotes the realisation of innovative applications.
Aligning with GSMA Standards and accelerating API adoption with BAEx
In June 2024, Chunghwa Telecom joined the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, becoming the first telecom operator in Taiwan to participate in this global standard. By the end of the year, the company independently developed two APIs—'SIM SWAP' and 'Device Status'—and obtained GSMA international standard certification. In July 2025, Chunghwa Telecom further supported domestic banks in implementing internationally compliant anti-fraud mechanisms, marking the first practical application of Open APIs for financial fraud prevention in Taiwan and providing a powerful tool in the fight against fraud.
BAEx is an industry-led open API exchange designed to simplify enterprises’ unified integration and access to CAMARA-based APIs across multiple markets through a standardised framework. The collaboration also aligns with global GSMA Open Gateway standards, supporting secure, operator-grade APIs that reduce fraud and improve customer experiences. By joining the BAEx Partner Programme, Chunghwa Telecom will benefit from a deeper engagement with BAEx operators and partners and contribute to alignment of telco API roadmap development and synchronisation of market readiness. This ensures a consistent, scalable and easy-to-consume API experience for enterprise customers and developers across the region. This collaboration also strengthens engagement with ecosystem partners to enhance service capabilities in key areas such as fraud prevention, identity verification, smart cities, and enterprise digital transformation.
Global Expansion of Open APIs Co-Creating New Business Opportunities in the B5G/6G Era

Looking ahead, by joining the BAEx Partner Programme, Chunghwa Telecom will engage in deep exchanges with other members to share successful Open API use cases and practical experiences from different countries, jointly exploring new business opportunities in the B5G/6G era.”
Dr. Ong Geok Chwee, CEO of Bridge Alliance, said, “We strongly believe in the pivotal role of open APIs in unleashing innovation and new business opportunities. We warmly welcome Chunghwa Telecom to the BAEx Partner Programme. It will provide valuable experience and inputs to help accelerate API development. With these partner contributions, the Programme will deliver more knowledge-sharing, alignment in telco API roadmap development and the practical deployment and expansion of cross-border applications to participants. And as a partner, Chunghwa Telecom will also benefit and grow together with us.”
Chunghwa Telecom will continue to deepen its partnerships with domestic and international industry players. Leveraging its years of accumulated technical expertise and system integration experience, and integrating 5G, AI, and Open APIs, the company aims to align with global standards and expand business opportunities, leading the way toward a new future in digital services.
