Chunghwa Telecom Rings NYSE Closing Bell to Celebrate 20-Year NYSE Listing Anniversary

NYC, July 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT) ("Chunghwa" or "the Company") is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) by ringing the closing bell on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

To mark the occasion, Chunghwa’s Chairman and CEO Mr. Shui-Yi Kuo is joined by Tan Hochen, former Chairman of the Company who led the Company’s listing 20 years ago, Vincent Chen, Chief Financial Officer, Chin-Chou Chen, President of the Company’s International Business Group and Angela (Cho-Fen) Tsai, Director of Investor Relations. In addition, Taiwan’s Ambassador to the United States Bi-khim Hsiao also joined to stand on the podium to ring the bell accompanied by representatives from Goldman Sachs, CHT’s NYSE listing underwriter 20 years ago, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, CHT’s NYSE listing team’s legal counsel, and J.P. Morgan, CHT’s depositary receipts bank.

During the celebration following the bell-ringing, Chairman Kuo said that Chunghwa appreciates and cherishes its investors’ long-standing support. He stated that in the future, the Company will not only continue to pursue business growth, but also commit to become a leading company in sustainable development and a leading enabler of digital ecosystems. Ambassador Hsiao also congratulated and wished the Company to continue to stay relevant in international capital markets to showcase its competitiveness, resilience, good governance and transparency as characterized by a typical Taiwanese enterprise.

Founded in 1996, the Company has been privatized in 2005 after the Taiwanese government reduced its stakes in the Company below 50% after several rounds of public offerings in local and overseas capital markets. On July 17, 2003, Chunghwa reached a pivotal stage in its history, as it joined and was among the few Asian companies that conduct initial public offering of company shares in the New York Stock Exchange. Over the last two decades, Chunghwa has diversified and grown to become one of the major worldwide providers of integrated telecommunication services.
