Washington DC, May 16, 2023

Chunghwa Telecom continuously speeds up its efforts to develop overseas markets. At the International Telecoms Week Conference (ITW) held in Washington D.C. from 2023 May 15th to 17th, it officially introduced the new generation of data center planning and the latest global network architecture to international markets.

ITW is an annual grant event for the international telecommunications and digital industries, attracting enthusiastic participation from more than 1,800 companies from 148 countries this year. Chunghwa Telecom participated in this international event as a representative of Taiwan and showcased the design specifications and concepts of the new generation data center, along with a complete and comprehensive global network architecture, demonstrating that Chunghwa Telecom is not only a pioneer in traditional telecommunications services but also plays an important role in the information and communications services industry

Recently, large international OTT content service providers and multinational enterprises have come to Taiwan in droves. In order to attract more international customers to Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom has specifically showcased more complete international network structure and the new Data Centers such as the Binjiang IDC in the exhibition area. The new Data Centers are designed equal to the highest level of TIA-942 Rated 4/Rated 3 specifications, equipped with SOC cybersecurity, advanced fire, earthquake protection, and have Taiwan Power Company's two-way power feed and dual thermal sink design. Coupled with smart energy solutions such as AMI solar photovoltaic power generation, Chunghwa Telecom has created the most high-level data centers in Taiwan. The planned base of the Binjiang center project is more than 3,000 square meters and can accommodate about 1,400 racks. Since it is located near the technology park, it is expected to bring the colocation services with shorter transmission distance and better connection quality to the high-tech industries in the park.

In line with the government's New Southbound Policy and to develop a business strategy for expanding overseas markets, as well as meeting the needs of domestic enterprises for external connectivity, Chunghwa Telecom showcased its latest global network architecture at ITW. Hsuan-Lung Liu the Assistant Vice President of International Business Group, stated that : with the successive activation of the jointly invested SJC2 and Apricot in the first quarter of 2024 and the third quarter of 2025, respectively, Chunghwa Telecom hopes to provide multinational corporations with better high-bandwidth carrying capacity through the stable and high-speed transmission capabilities of the new submarine cables, as well as effectively decentralize submarine cable regions and achieve the effectiveness of multiple backup sources. This also lays the most important infrastructure foundation for Chunghwa Telecom to promote 5G private networks, smart cities, smart healthcare, and other solutions internationally, paving the way for achieving the goal of "going from Taiwan to the world" in the future.
