Chunghwa Telecom and Nokia Sign MOU to Jointly Push Beyond 5G Evolution in Taiwan. Developing a green and advanced network to drive innovated applications and create growth momentum

TAIPEI, Taiwan, R.O.C. February 28, 2023 - Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nokia at the 2023 Mobile World Congress (MWC23) in Barcelona, Spain. Through this MOU, the two parties can continue their 5G strategic cooperation and jointly promote Taiwan's 5G network to the next new stage, Beyond 5G.

As Chunghwa Telecom promotes 5G, the two parties will carry out in-depth collaboration in three areas, in order to satisfy the needs of new technological development and the increasingly complex vertical application network deployment needs of enterprise customers. In terms of "5G Advanced/6G Next Generation Network", the two parties will expand the scope of cooperation in up-to-date network technologies, improve the flexibility and automation of network deployment and service provision, and provide new user experience and services. In terms of "Key Technologies of 5G Enterprise Private Networks", global experience and cases of Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC) will be further explored to facilitate the expansion of the 5G enterprise private network industry ecosystem. In terms of "Network Transformation and ESG", the two parties will explore ESG key indicators such as energy efficiency, network transformation, and industrial digitalization through the joint testing of power efficient hardware and software and advanced networking architecture (such as C-RAN) to achieve ESG goals of energy conservation, carbon emission reduction, and environmental sustainability.
