Introduction to products
009 international direct dialing (IDD) refers to where an international number is dialed directly by a customer rather than by a telephone operator (100). There are currently 239 countries or regions included in IDD.
Dialing method
International prefix (009/002) + country code + area code + int.
Example of Calling Japan from Taiwan 009 or 002 + 81 + 3 + xxxxxxxx (tel. no.)
For IDD, the caller first dials the international prefix (009 or 002), and then the country code and area code of the receiving party, followed by that party's phone number (the 0 in front of the area code should not be dialed).
If you have any questions about international direct dialing, call 0800-080123 for assistance from our customer service personnel.
Note: 002 is the international common code. Chunghwa Telecom customers can dial 002 for international calls. 009 is Chunghwa Telecom's dedicated international code, which occasionally provides special rates (see special announcements for details). So using 009 is recommended.
