Chunghwa Telecom partners with Ericsson at MWC 2025 to drive 5G AI innovation and empower industry digitalization

Chunghwa Telecom has partnered with Ericsson to advance 5G AI innovation, focusing on network intelligence and automation to accelerate digital transformation across industries. This collaboration will harness the power of 5G AI technologies to enhance application services and optimize smart network management, ensuring high-quality connectivity for both consumers and businesses.

At the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC), Chunghwa Telecom and Ericsson will showcase two major 5G innovations, including AI-driven network management and the integration of digital twins with generative AI (Gen AI) to improve network efficiency in high-traffic environments. These innovations will demonstrate the full potential of 5G network slicing.

Chunghwa Telecom Chairman, Alex C.C. Chien, will lead a delegation of senior executives to MWC 2025, where they will visit the Ericsson booth to engage with global ICT leaders and explore the latest advancements in telecom technologies.

Generative AI and Digital Twin integration drives network management innovation for Chunghwa Telecom

Chunghwa Telecom utilizes Ericsson’s Site Digital Twin (ESDT), Ericsson Network Intelligence (ENI), and Generative AI (Gen AI) technologies to drive smart network management. Ensuring stable and reliable connectivity to meet the surge in traffic demand during 2024 New Year’s Eve celebrations.

At MWC 2025, Chunghwa Telecom and Ericsson will demonstrate this innovation, combining drone and 3D modeling technologies to create digital twins of network sites. These digital twins simulate real environments to optimize resource allocation at high-traffic locations. Additionally, ENI’s Smart AI Alert, powered by Gen AI, enables real-time monitoring by filtering excessive alerts, reducing the need for on-site human intervention.

This deployment not only reduces the load on sites but also boosts the overall network performance and increases network capacity by nearly 14%. Through smart network resource management and automated real-time monitoring innovations, Chunghwa Telecom enhances its network service quality while lowering operational costs.

5G SA Network verification completed; automated Network Slicing unlocks 5G potential for industries

At MWC 2025, Chunghwa Telecom, in collaboration with Ericsson and Singtel, showcased the successful deployment of Ericsson's Dynamic Network Solution (EDNS) within Chunghwa Telecom’s 5G Standalone (SA) network. Integrated with Singtel's Paragon platform, this solution offers on-demand network slicing services, driving digitalization across Taiwan’s industries.

The solution was widely validated throughout 2024 through various real-world applications in Chunghwa Telecom’s 5G SA network. A notable example was the "Metaverse Marathon" during Tainan’s 400th anniversary celebrations. Using Ericsson’s dynamic network slicing solution, the event ensured automatic configuration of optimal network slices to deliver stable, high-quality live streaming experiences even during crowd gatherings.

Chung-Yung Chia, President of Chunghwa Telecom’s Network Technology Group, stated, “Since launching 5G in 2020, Chunghwa Telecom has been advancing network and application technologies. Our collaboration with Ericsson and Singtel has successfully integrated dynamic network slicing, digital twins, and generative AI, showcasing our commitment to driving innovation and industrial growth with 5G/B5G and AI technologies.”
