Chunghwa Telecom Recognized in S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for the Third Time, ESG Ranking in Global Top 5%

On February 11th, S&P Global released the Sustainability Yearbook 2025. Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (“Chunghwa” or “the Company”) was included for the third consecutive year, ranking in the top 5% for ESG in the global telecommunications sector. This recognition demonstrates Chunghwa’s outstanding ESG achievements and solidifies its position as a leading global sustainable enterprise.

The S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook lists select companies based on their Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) scores; the same benchmark used in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI). Only companies that exceed a defined CSA score threshold and rank in the top 15% of their industry worldwide earn a place in the Yearbook. In 2024, over 13,000 companies participated in the CSA, with 7,690 considered for inclusion in the 2025 Sustainability Yearbook, and only 780 selected, highlighting its rigorous standards.

Chunghwa Telecom highlighted its dedication to innovation and value creation by utilizing AI to lead its sustainable transformation. The Company prioritizes transparency as well as fair and timely disclosures, enabling stakeholders to gain a well-rounded insight into its sustainability, business, and financial strategies. For the third consecutive time, Chunghwa’s ESG score has been acknowledged by S&P Global as one of the top 5% global telecom operators. Included in the 2025 Sustainability Yearbook, Chunghwa stands out among major telecom players with market capitalizations exceeding USD 2.5 billion. This achievement demonstrates the Company’s remarkable sustainable competitiveness and strong execution capabilities.

Chunghwa has become the first telecom company in Taiwan to commit to achieving net-zero by 2045, ahead of the global 2050 target, and received SBTi’s verification for its net-zero goal. The Company has also proactively applied AI technologies to ecological conservation through AIoT-based monitoring systems for wildlife. Additionally, Chunghwa has worked closely with supply chain partners to advance ESG initiatives, spanning carbon management, biodiversity, and sustainability performance evaluations, aiming to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem. Furthermore, the Company has steadily increased the linkage between executive compensation and ESG performance since 2022 , with a target of 30% by 2025. It is also one of the few Taiwanese companies to implement the Clawback policy to ensure alignment between executive decisions and long-term investor interests. Chunghwa Telecom has once again been recognized in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for its outstanding performance in embedding ESG into its corporate culture from top to bottom and inside out. This recognition establishes Chunghwa as an international benchmark company grounded in sustainable development.
