To implement the protection of human rights and "General Equality in Employment Act", Chunghwa Telecom has incorporated strict recruitment systems, measures and activities. In addition, Chunghwa Telecom has stipulated various anti-sexual harassment measures to implement sexual harassment prevention and mechanism. To handle employees victimized by misconduct, Chunghwa Telecom has established “Complaint Committee” that consist of 5 members, with 3 female members (more than half) and effective mechanism. Owing to our effective control, no incident of discrimination was reported in 2017.

Chunghwa Telecom values human rights and gender equality at work. In 2017, female staff accounted for 28.43% of total staff, while female managers accounted for 25.86% of total managers. In terms of gender diversity in BoD, there are 2 female directors on Chunghwa Telecom’s Board.

With regards to the diversity of manpower, we have been hiring persons with disability exceeding the quota specified in Article 38 of People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act. In 2017, the number of persons with disability hired by the Company was more than 3.71 times the statutory quota (statutory quota: 212; actual hire: 787). As for the 43 indigenous employees onboard in 2017, we have fully respected their cultures and therefore no violation of work rights or human rights was reported during the year in 2017.
