Information Communication Technology(ICT) in the 21st Century is not only a measure of a nation's competitiveness in terms of technology development, but also the integration of ICT application with overall management is becoming more critical than ever.  As the leader of the telecommunications industry in Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is entrusted with greater responsibilities in addition to actively grasping the trends, developing innovative services and broadening the service range.

eICT Pioneer
CHT takes much pride in assuming the position as the 'eICT Pioneer'. CHT is committed in becoming the partner for the sustainable development of customers, industries, countries and the overall mankind.  The future development of the ICT industry will be closely tied to sustainable operation and social responsibilities.  CHT takes Communication Technology (CT) as the foundation and Information Technology (IT) as the development pillar in pursuit of the "3-e" as described below:
Energy: reduce energy consumption and implement renewable energies.
Environment: reduce the use of substances and monitor environmental change.
Empower: care for disadvantaged groups and assist social developments.

Create Sustainable Values
In order to implement our sustainable management into executives organization, CHT carry out such concept in "Employee Performance Review Guidelines" every year. In this performance guidelines, we reward our managers and executives if one considers and involves social corporate responsibility, environment friendly, or social benefits considers into policy making or related contributions. Under such system, we reveal our sustainability operation to our manager's bonus allocation., hence to enhance our sustainability development.


Innovation and Forward-looking
"Innovation" is the key to a corporation's competitiveness in the telecommunication service industry, of which added value services are representative of innovation.  In addition to innovation within the telecommunication technology and services, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has been devoted to the development of the respective applied service platforms and added value services.  CHT continues to exploit new business opportunities in order to stimulate the overll industry's development.  In terms of fulfilling CSR, CHT has been continuously developing reduced-carbon-emission, energy-efficient and socially friendly products by leveraging CHT’s exceptional innovative abilities.
CHT’s research and development in recent years cover the following six major areas:
1. Mobile communication/multimedia application technology and added value service platform;
2. Information communication/network maintenance and operation technology and information security;
3. Energy conservation/renewable energy;
4. Social/customer care;
5. Cloud computing/content service;
6. Improved efficiency in organizational and resources management

CHT’s concept of sustainable management is to help itself and its customers.  CHT’s goal is to manage the corporation with high regards for environmental resources and to create benefits for the society.  CHT believes that in doing so, its corporate values will touch people's heart and receive social recognition.
