General Vocational Training
In terms of general vocational training, Chunghwa Telecom's (CHT) three telecommunication training centers in Northern, Central and Southern Taiwan host annual training courses covering 8 major areas of vocational competencies and operational management skills. The classes are taught either in classroom or in long-distance manner via video conferencing facilities.
CHT has put in place different types of network systems including the knowledge management system, e-learning (an online learning system), e-learning newsletter, distance learning, digital library and digital telecommunication monthly etc. in order to offer its employees an appropriate learning environment.
Elites Incubation and Training
CHT has put in place the "Chunghwa Telecom Manager Training Criteria" for conducting training of its senior managerial staff. The telecommunication training centers organize leadership training camps and special workshops for operations managers in order to enhance the overall competency of the management team. CHT also conducts general training courses for incubation of management reserve in order to prepare them for potential opportunities in management/shareholder representative positions with CHT or its investee companies.
For the purpose of cultivating general telecommunications talents and solidifying CHT's competitiveness, in 2008, CHT telecommunication training centers joined efforts with the National Taiwan University in order to launch the "Advanced Telecommunication Network Technology Program". This program has since delivered marked accomplishments in enhancing employees' competency in fundamental telecommunication network theories.
Employee Advanced Education Subsidy
CHT nominates employees with potential of advanced development every year and dispatches them to pursue respective studies at local tertiary institutions. CHT also encourages all employees to pursue lifetime learning. Any employee fulfilling the requirements stipulated in the "Criteria Governing Tertiary (Incl. Postgraduate) Education for Chunghwa Telecom Employees" is eligible to apply for advanced education subsidy. The maximum subsidy grant is NT$30,000 (or ~US$?) per semester.
CHT also conducts training of new technology introduction and of new businesses development in line with its operational developments, as well as “innovation, broadband and added-value” business strategy. For instance, there is marketing training for NGN core network, IP/MPLS VPN, FTTH and MOD; ICT-related training on topics including cloud computing, iEN and IOT; and other professional training courses required for CHT’s operations such as project management, NGN core network and IP specialists training. The training courses are designed to enhance employees’ skills and to assist them in obtaining both external and internal accreditation in order to ensure that each employee’s job competency is closely tied to CHT’s overall operational developments. Over the years, CHT’s training programs have been a huge success.
International Talents Training
CHT conducts seminars and workshops for international corporate talents specifically designed for employees outside of Taiwan. These training programs focus on the development of commercial negotiation, foreign language skills as well as proficiency in local laws and regulations, local market analysis and practical training.
