Chunghwa Telecom established social responsibility committee in 2006, actively to internalize corporate social responsibility into corporate culture, including corporate governance, environmental protection and social inclusion. We have cooperated with NPOs and universities to provide digital-learning courses and Cultural and Artistic Activities in local communities, particularly in rural areas; we also consecutively invest hundreds of millions of New Taiwan dollars every year into improving telecom services in remote areas of Taiwan. Besides, by well using ICT technology, we help clients to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emission; as an industry leader, Chunghwa Telecom promote CSR initiatives including promoting second party audit on supplier CSR, and driving suppliers to understand and practice CSR.

In 2016, Chunghwa Telecom once again became the telecommunication carrier to be selected as a composition of both DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index) - World and DJSI – Emerging Markets. It ranks among, TELECOM ITALIA(Italy), TELUS CORP (Canada), and SK (South Korea) as world’s 9 most sustainable carriers.

A total of 18 Taiwanese companies were selected for DJSI-Emerging Markets and 6 were selected for DJSI-World in 2016. Chunghwa Telecom’s attention to economic, environmental and social aspects and its ability to deliver business performance have won investors’ recognition from all over the world.
